Prof. Dr. med. Otto Dagobert Schoch

Professor Otto Schoch is a clinician and pneumologist with a broad experience in diagnosing and treating tuberculosis patients in various national and international settings.

After schooling and medical education in Switzerland, he attained a diploma in tropical medicine and public health from the Tropical Institute in Basel and became superintendent of Driefontein Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Zimbabwe 1992-1994. Back in Switzerland, he completed his clinical education in St. Gallen and Zurich, where he now is attending physician in pneumology and sleep medicine at Kantonsspital St.Gallen and a professor in internal medicine and pneumology.

Otto Schoch is the medical advisor of the Swiss Tuberculosis Center and a teacher for specialist tuberculosis nurses of the Swiss Lung Associations. He is responsible for tuberculosis activities of Lungenliga St.Gallen-Appenzell. His expert and teaching activities included education of pulmonary fellows in the East African Training Initiative at Tikur Anbessa, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the HERMES initiative in Bishkek, Kirgizstan, and advice to SOLIDARMed with its HIV treatment programs in Zimbabwe.
